So there is an event called ‘Rock on’ in this year’s fresh beats at my B school in which we freshers are supposed to manage the entire event.

And guess… someone is singing. Uhhh i hate to mention this here but that someone is none other than yours truly. (Although i’ve really overexaggerated my inability to sing over a few blog posts in this blog.)

By the way, I’ve been practising a couple of songs all these days. Firstly ….none other than Bryan Adam’s number ‘run to me’ and second happens to be an original self composed song called ‘my kinda gurl’. Its kind of hard singing after 3 years or more but i’m trying. I hope i come out well.

Its been three months and 8 days that I’ve been in Kolkata now. And the experience hasn’t really been bad.

I had a three days break in which i wanted to go back home to Delhi, but i couldn’t make it… and now I’m missing that place really badly.

I miss you Delhi. Yeah I do…

My last post showed how Google has taken note of the important events in the World and modified its homepage design, this time being the Olympics.

Yesterday the image posted by me showed very beautifully the essence of Olympics….. that is Unity.

I’ve decided to follow Google to the Olympics in Beijing.

And this happens to be today’s Google Homepage image.

Lets see in the coming days, how efficient and creative Google can be to cover all the sports in this year’s games.

So its finally 08-08-08, the day we had been waiting for quite some time now. We can add a couple of 8’s more to it as the Olympic games would be called open right at 8 minutes past 8 the local time.

Olympics been a stage for sports at the Global level and has always been in a limelight. It is the biggest event in sports, and all of us know that. This Olympics has been in limelight for other reasons also. Say, an opportunity for China to show to the world that it has emerged as the next superpower. Also the Tibet issue… which has hurt China’s so called sentiments for the games.

Sentiments or Ego… I’m confused.

Talking about Google, THE leader for internet search, not only provides information to millions of us, but also catches up on the events and festivals that are a part of our world.

Here’s an example of today’s google’s homepage.

I love it. It makes us feel a part of this world… doesn’t it. Guys at Google… you surely rock.

No wonder it has taken over the internet space and has broadened horizons for itself and also for us.

Google happens to be my dream company, Yes…for sure.

And i hate it… when one of the professors here at my college calls it “Googly” and not “GOOGLE”.

Adit bhaiya (my cousin), I am so delighted for you that you have got that job in Google in California. I’m coming soon.

I remember the time when Delhi Metro was introduced. Delhi was the second city in India where the metro service was introduced (the first being Calcutta, of which i would be talking about).

The Delhi metro boasted of its quality service and promised to bring about a change in the perception of we Indians of the public transport in our country. The quality for sure was of the best standards and the only question that always struck my mind was that whether we people would use it efficiently or was it ahead of its time and people won’t mind spitting in and around the metro too.

For a first few days people actually did. They spit, but the best part… they were also fined.

I guess i got a bit out of track but this post refers to the Calcutta metro joy ride i experienced about a week back. I had no clue of how it would turn out to be. One reason i was not expecting much was that the Calcutta metro was introduced way back and i being from Delhi just knew what the Delhi Metro was.

The Delhi Metro

Calcutta Metro unlike the Delhi Metro is all underground and i guess this is its one superiority over the latter. When the whole world is reconstructing overhead metros to underground tunnel, i have no clue why the Delhi Metro went the wrong way in this aspect.

I boarded the train from “Rabindra Sadan metro station” upto three stoppages ahead and got down at the “Kalighat metro station” and back. The stations are just like any other Indian Railways railway station, the only difference of it being Underground. The weighing machines and the huge tracks was a sight to watch. While waiting to board the coach i was passing my time looking around the station and was delighted to note that the management has very efficiently used the sidewalls(the boundaries) and promoted the Bengali/Indian culture, art and literature. I personally feel that being an old system in place, it cannot boast of air conditioning and other such high tech facilities but surely was very much well ventilated.

I boarded the train finally and I must say that it is very efficient also. Its fast. Another point i must include is that the fare of the Calcutta metro is like really cheap. I just paid Rs. 8/- (4+4) as the total fare which would have been one side fare in the capital. Delhi Metro surely boasts of profit and high usage, but i’ll surely suggest that I was quite impressed by the Calcutta Metro also.

I’m still waiting to travel some distance in the trams here and would surely write a post on that soon. Also the road transport I used to crib about back in Delhi happens to be much more advanced than this city and I’m missing those rides to and back from college with friends in the D.T.C. buses.

So I was a happy guy after experiencing the Calcutta Metro (it did have good crowd… ahemm ahemm just like the Connought place to Delhi University line in Delhi). And i was happier when i had that ‘egg chicken role’ right outside the station. Talking about food, man… I’m hungry again.

Do we ‘hope’ for things to happen or do we ‘wish’ for those very things to happen?

This has been one question that has been striking my mind for quite some time now. Once this friend of mine said that she doesn’t hope anything from me (she meant I’m hopeless,i suppose). She also added that she now just wished for me to do those things or whatever. And I’m still finding the difference.

Yeah. confused? so have i been. Infact this picture adds more to it. Another word called dream. I’ve had a few great dreams lately. Weird ones also. I wish/hope that the stuff continues.

Personally i feel that hope is a more generalised word, a word which may be used for a generalised set of people, but wish on the other hand is for special, those ’some’ people. Thank you friend for calling me hopeless. 

On the other hand you ‘hope’ when you know that thing might happen. And you end up ‘wishing’ when you know there’s is only a sleek probability of the same. Also there something known as ‘hope hopen’, but something known as wish wishen, i haven’t heard of). I hate you friend for calling me hopeless. 

Yeah, just taking out time from my busy schedule to bug you guys, to share the frustation of preparing the marketing report, and what not.

I hope  I had no work this week. Oh, i wish!!!

This one happens to be a highly delayed post. I really wanted to write about this movie for quite some time( basically after i got a chance to finally see the flick)

One amazing movie. I’m sure not most of you would agree with me as its like just another Bollywood flick.

Even i ain’t crazy over movies and reject half of them by their names itself, but this one surely took me back to my college days. The college days, a friend called Meow (i called her billi though, Isha i really miss you), and friends like rotlu and bomb, coca cola on the rocks…. etc etc…. Aamir Khan surely came out with a great one.

i would also appreciate Imran Khan ( for those of you who don’t know a word about bollywood, i ain’t talkin about the Great Pakistani cricketer but Aamir Khan’s nephew)… good debut dude!!!

Thanks Sachi for coming along for this movie. She got so annoyed that day i guess because I was laughing on senti scenes and quiet in the funny ones.

The movie also has some great songs and this sentimental number happens to be my best in this movie.

A very very sweet movie overall.

Friends I really miss you a lot. There is a lot to talk about. I’m coming to Delhi soon!!!! i hope I’ll be able to make it.

So last night i forced myself to remember the name of my maths teacher. The point was how can i forget her name. With Due respect and apology…. Shobha Prasad mam…

Mam you used to teach real well… yeah sure!!! But you used to slap real hard!!!

P.S. She never really slapped me but i kind of feel bad for my friends back at school.
